About Us

Encouraging self-expression, fitness and creativity!

At Little Feet Big Moves, we believe that fitness should be fun! We offer a wide range of after-school activities, including Creative Movement, Drama Workshops, Children's Yoga, Mindfulness, ZUMBA®KIDS, and ZUMBA® KIDS JR.  Each session is tailored to meet the specific needs of your group.  We can lead your group in one or all of the mentioned activities...it's up to you!

Melanie Holmes is a Yoga Alliance certified yoga teacher (RYT 200) and licensed Zumba Fitness and Zumba Kids Instructor. Born and raised in Texas, she has trained internationally, including Dallas, Vienna, Bulgaria, Delhi, Abu Dhabi and Dubai. Melanie has over 12 years of classroom teaching experience, teaching High School Theatre Arts and most recently as the Elementary Drama and Dance Specialist teacher for grades 1-5 at the top American school in the Middle East. Melanie’s classes help develop confidence, self-esteem, creativity, flexibility, memory and coordination, but most important of all, they are fun!

ZUMBA®KIDS, ZUMBA® KIDS JR.

Perfect For:

Perfect for our younger Zumba® fans! Kids 4-11 years old get the chance to be active and jam out to their favorite music.

How It Works:

Zumba® Kids classes feature kid-friendly routines based on original Zumba® choreography. We break down the steps, add games, activities and cultural exploration elements into the class structure.

Benefits:

Helps develop a healthy lifestyle and incorporate fitness as a natural part of children's lives by making fitness fun. Classes incorporate key childhood development elements like leadership, respect, team work, confidence, self-esteem, memory, creativity and coordination, cultural awareness. 

Zumba®Kids: Ages 7-11

Zumba®Kids Jr: Ages 4-6

Children's Yoga

Perfect For

Children's Yoga is great for kids of all ages, from nursery to age 12.  The classes are tailored to suit the requirements of each age group. Props are used for the younger yogis to add an element of fun.

How It Works:

At Little Feet Big Moves we think that yoga is for all ages! These classes are high energy and fast paced. You can expect stretching, stories and fun during one of our Children's Yoga sessions. 

Benefits:

Yoga poses help encourage good posture, increase flexibility and teach breath control.  Our children often live in a fast-paced world, and yoga gives them a chance to slow down and be in the moment.

Drama and Creative Movement

Perfect For:

Available for kids 3 to 12 years old.

How It Works:

Melanie uses Drama and Creative Dance to help kids develop a sense of body awareness and confidence. Classes are high energy and fast paced. You can expect different drama games, pantomime, creative play and  and creative movement activities, quick to ensure lots of giggles and smiles.

Benefits:

Critical thinking skills, confidence, self-expression, and developing creativity and imagination are just a few of the skills that children gain from Drama and Dance.

Mindfulness

Perfect For:

Available from 4 to 12 years old.

How It Works:

Mindful movement, crafts, activities and meditation teach our students how to lead a more positive and purposeful life.

Benefits:

Teaching mindfulness to children helps them with self control, kindness, empathy, gratitude and how to deal with stress.

Private Lessons

Perfect For:

Available from 4-17 years old.

How It Works:

This can be anything you want it to be! I can come to you, you can come to me, or if your school/gym/community centre allows, we can meet at a central location.  I offer private yoga and mindfulness lessons, drama tutoring, Zumba Kids and creative movement. 

Benefits:

Private lessons are structured to meet the individual needs of the child, therefore the benefits are endless! We all know how stressful exams can be and the pressure that our young ones face today. Yoga can help your child learn to relax and cope with stress through various breathing techniques and postures. Contact us today and together we can develop a plan that's perfect for your child.

Private Birthday Parties

Perfect For:

The birthday boy or girl!

How It Works:

You let me know what your birthday boy or girl would like and I make it happen! A yoga adventure, perhaps?  Or a fun movement-based session with scarves, ribbons, hula hoops, etc.? I can lead the kids in yoga, dance, drama, creative movement, Zumba Kids...it's up to you! I bring all equipment and supplies, the only thing I need is an electrical outlet and a space big enough for the children to move around in.

A birthday to remember!
